Miss Jess started dancing at the age of 3 and began assisting at age 10. Jessica took private lessons in tap and lyrical for 11 years and competed in competitions around New England with her team and as a soloist, from ages 9-20. Growing up, she performed twice in Disney World (including being a part of the Disney Dance Around The World Parade), performed at Hershey park in Pennsylvania, and danced in local parades/winter festivals for many years.
She taught competition level tap and jazz in addition to recreation level ballet, lyrical and tumbling in the Scituate/Cohasset area for 6 years before she began teaching at Kalia Karr in 2017! She danced throughout her college career, including several shows with the BSU Dance Company and was a part of the Dance Advisory Committee (DAC). Jessica minored in Dance and Criminal Justice at Bridgewater State University in addition to her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Jessica also has a certificate in Paralegal Studies that she received at Boston University and worked as a paralegal for 3 years. A couple years later, she joined a hip hop/ Contemporary team called “Dance2Save”. In 2017 she performed with that team at the Celtics Pre-Game show on top of other other local recitals where they raised money for different charities. In 2018 she became a member of “Contemporarily Out of Order”, a Contemporary company out of Cambridge. Jessica has taken classes with the choreographers of PUSH, Boston Tap Company, Sarah Katarina (“SkooJ”), MoveLikeZay and Broadway Dance Center in NY, to name a few.
In addition to dance experience, Jessica worked at “My Gym” for 3 years where she spent her days with children 6 months-10 years old, developing beginner gymnastic skills as well as many other important fine and gross motor skills. When Miss Jess is not at Kalia Karr she is either working at her other job, Reliable Respiratory (Kalia Karr is her fun job!) or you might find her running obstacle runs, playing with her dog Penny, taking photos with her camera, or dancing and singing to music in her car. Jessica has a passion for teaching and dance. She really loves the kids and staff at Kalia Karr and looks forward to many great years!
